Job Description

Qualified candidates must have cruise ship experience, a five-star hospitality and/or restaurant environment. Joining ticket, Medical and Visa are provided.

Overview

  • The Sous Chef is responsible for planning and managing food preparation in restaurant kitchens. Duties include planning menus, training new staff, and recording inventory.
  • The Sous Chef will be responsible for monitoring new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and follow standard operating procedures.
  • The Sous Chef will assist with the preparation and flow of all meal services.
  • Establish the working schedule with the Executive Sous Chef and organize the work in the kitchen so that everything works in a timely manner.
  • The Sous Chef will work with the executive chef to produce diversified menus in accordance with the restaurant’s policy and vision.
  • You should have excellent communication skills and good at team building in a diverse environment.
  • Plan and direct how food is to be plated.
  • Maintain the highest customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understand your environment well, notice talented chefs and train them in order to reach the high standards of the product.
  • Monitor and keep track of inventory.
  • Provide support to the junior team members and support line cooking, dish plating etc.
  • Adhere to the strict sanitation guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Manage the team in the absence of the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef.

Requirements

  • English Excellent
  • 2 years’ experience on a large passenger vessel, high end restaurant, reputable hotel or working with a celebrity Chef preferable.\
  • Must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated with FDA or WHO approved Covid-19 vaccines.

Summary:  A Sous Chef is responsible for planning and managing food preparation onboard. Other skills include performing a range of duties including planning menus, training new staff, and recording inventory.  Always maintain the highest standards and customer satisfaction.  As a Sous Chef you must be a top team player.
