Job Description

Vacancies on World Odyssey with joining the vessel in the beginning of Sep, 2024.

Position Overview:

The Galley Utility (GU) responsible for cleaning and sanitizing specific areas with the galley and its outlets and its outlets and assists others in the galley and supports all operational tasks.

The GU is aware of SMG’s Health and Sanitation Manual and generally understands sections pertaining to his duties. GU conducts himself in a way that positively reflect on SMG

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Galley Responsibilities include: conducts all cleaning and sanitation activities in all food production (galley) outlets, works according to the schedule provided and may assist cooks as needed and directed
  • Documentation Responsibilities include: may fill in documentation pertaining to his duties. This includes but is not limited to: cleaning schedule and dishwasher monitoring logs
  • Generally understands and is aware of policies and procedures pertaining to safety on board, including but not limited to SMG’s Safety Policy, the principal’s safety policy and client or location specific policies
  • Wears necessary PPE during all cleaning and sanitation activities
  • Adheres to applicable safety policies and standards
  • Aware of SMG’s and principal’s environmental policy and upholds its standards
  • GU supports Executive Chef, F&B Manager and / or Hotel Director (if applicable) as needed and takes on additional tasks within the Hotel Department as directed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess relevant training and background
  • Needs to be up to date with all necessary certifications, including but not limited to STCW requirements, MLC requirements, specifically required certifications
  • Must be in possession of valid, MLC compliant medical certificate
  • Has an understanding of applicable aspects of vessel sanitation
  • Has a good command of English language
