Job Description

  • Movement of Passengers – Responsibility for the overall implementation and supervision of the shipboard organization for movement of passengers en masse during embarkation, disembarkation, shore excursions, emergency etc.
  • Deck Maintenance – Maintenance of the vessel’s exterior decks, hull, structure and fabric
  • Tank Maintenance – Maintenance, inspection and survey of all tanks, cofferdams, void spaces and internal hull & structure
  • Lifting Equipment – Monitoring the condition, inspection and maintenance of the ship’s lifting equipment including LSA, FFA, cargo gear, strops, wires, chain blocks etc
  • Deck Department Inventory Control – Control of stock level records and stores requisitions and of external services for the deck department
  • Rounds and Routines – Responsibility for the planning and co-ordination of ship’s inspections, rounds and routines in consultation with Heads of Department
  • Company Procedures and Instructions – Monitoring the practical application of the Company’s policy, procedures and instructions, reporting to the Master any instances where the ship is unable to or fails to comply
  • Mooring Stations – Attending mooring stations as instructed; Supervising crew assigned to mooring stations and ensuring that mooring operations are conducted in accordance with the advice in the Code of Safe Working Practice
  • Permit To Work System – Operation of the permit to work system
  • Deck job planning – Assist the Chief Officer in planning and execution of maintenance and operational work tasks
  • Deck maintenance – General deck and accommodation cleaning & maintenance. Any other duties assigned by the Head of Department. In charge of control of all deck tools, equipment; stores etc. in good order and observe and/or obtain stock as requested by the Chief Officer.
  • Deck team supervision – Instruct and supervise the Able Seamen, Ordinary Seamen, Deck Cadets in accordance with the Company Safety Management System; Arrange efficient deck hand
  • Crane operations – Attending crane operations as instructed; Supervising crew assigned to crane operations and ensuring that crane operations are conducted in accordance with the Code of Safe Working Practice
  • “Zodiac” operations – Attending “Zodiac” operations as instructed; Supervising crew assigned to “Zodiac” operations and ensuring that “Zodiac” operations are conducted in accordance with the Zodiac Operations Manual
  • Tanks, cofferdams, void spaces – Maintenance of all Fresh Water and Ballast tanks, cofferdams, void spaces, following safety protocol as per company SMS and Enclosed Space Entry Procedures
  • High risk job – To ensure that high risk jobs such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work and work aloft are not undertaken without prior approval by the Chief Officer


Potential candidates must have at least 2 years’ experience on a cruise ship. You must be fully vaccinated with FDA or WHO approved Covid-19 vaccines and must be fluent in English. Joining Ticket, Medical and Visa are provided.
